This was the best time. This was the worst time. Those words, with which Charles Dickens begins, are the narratives of two cities, the sum of our experience of the last ten weeks at St. Martin-in-the-Fields. This has become the worst of times, as our business has been unable to operate, slicing off the risk of dozens of jobs and the revenue that the community holds.
“This time was the best, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the age of unbelief, it was the season of unbelief, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, It was a spring of hope, it was a winter of despair. “
Meanwhile, those who have no place to lay their heads have been weakened before. Many of whom we never felt we had – but we have also discovered the depth of countless friendships.

An amazing range of people has generously donated to appeal keeping our doors open. We have never felt that he appreciates our presence and mission more than we are doing today.
Our doors have been closed for the first time; More contagious than some viruses expressed – but reacted with innovation, energy, and compassion and face to face online in the face of our community.
The appeal comes to a climax on Pentecost Sunday with a live concert in a virtual form at 7 pm with a host of media celebrities and contributions from our Voices and Hymns scholars.
You have already been given to make your appeal – thank you, sincerely, to me and the entire community. You have been a part of our lives and have not had a chance to give up yet, I can invite you, so do it, right now.
Do I hope that people will see in concert the way St. Martin embodied hopes for hope, dignity, creativity, and a relationship in everything that happens? We are constantly responding to new challenges – and Corona is the biggest we have ever faced.
But we are people who are made up of the belief in music, the search for truth, the value of every person, and the joy of the word, ‘together.’ We are trying to keep this dream alive in our dark hours.

Pentecost is about diversity, energy, surprise, happiness, imagination, and the world turning upside down. It is all about St. Martin’s: God makes his little life of immense importance by meeting every person in their own language and their own context, raising it in the wonder of God’s story.
The appeal began as a way to help St. Martin survive. It is St. Martin that emerges out of this crisis as a separate organization, becoming, even more, a way to reimagine the alliance with its core commitment. Those commitments are that generosity is the best investment. God invests 100% in us. When we invest 100% in God and each other we discover that happiness.
